NVNA cadets visit Chaika Naval Air Station

On 1 June 2017 1st Crew from the Cadet Training Battalion at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy commanded by final-year cadet Tonislav Dzhuninski and his deputy Nikola Georgiev got their award as promised by the Commander of the Navy, a flight on a Panther rotary-wing aircraft. The awarded crew had become the overall winner in the cadet crew competitions for the academic year of 2016/2017. Beside the award-winners, all the cadets who wished to do so were given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the naval rotary-wing aircraft station of Chaika.

Rear Admiral Mitko Petev, Commander of the Navy, congratulated the Naval Academy trainees on the achieved results and expressed his satisfaction with their personal growth.

Before the flights the cadets were introduced to the construction of the helicopters and the missions they can fulfill. Then they were briefed on the safety measures in-flight. The trainees were divided into groups, with each group being given an individual mission. During the flights the cadets carried out their tasks under the supervision of officers from the air station. Along with their work they had the chance to enjoy the bird-eye view that revealed before them.
