On 17 July 2017 a delegation from the Republic of Angola paid an official visit to Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. The group represented the Ministry of Fisheries of Angola and consisted of: Ms Maria Nelumba – State Secretary for Fishery Works, Ms Maria Pimentel – cabinet director, Mr Andre Santos – head of the Ministry’s HR department, and Mr Joachim Ganga.
The meeting also included discussions about a number of matters within the sphere of experience sharing, and particularly about the possibility to matriculate Angolan students at the Naval Academy. Ms Nelumba introduced her team, told the hosts about her, pointing out the tight link of the future of the economy of her country with the sea.
On his part the Rector of the higher military education institution pledged to assist in the preparation of future personnel and in the development of infrastructure along with the methodology of its utilisation. “Our country has abundant fishery resources, but we lack in specialists to be able to lead our fishing onto industrial scale“, Ms Nelumba revealed.
At the close of the meeting Flotilla Admiral Prof. Mednikarov presented the visitors with the institutional plaque and made plain his satisfaction with the talks.
Following the formal part, the visitors toured the simulators in the Faculties of Navigation and Engineering to obtain an idea of the facilities at the disposal of the Naval Academy.
