On 13 August 2015 (Saturday) at 10.00 o’clock in Hall 1 of the Festival and Congress Centre – Varna, there was an official graduation ceremony for the students of the Class of 2016 of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy to receive their diplomas. The hall was full to the brim with students and their families, friends, professors, representative of the national and the local government, members of parliament, honorary consuls, rectors of universities, representatives of maritime companies, alumni of the Academy.
The deputy defence minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Ass. Prof. Dr Desislava Yosifova was an official guest to the Academy’s celebration. At the table for officials on stage were also Mr Kosta Bazitov – Deputy Mayor of Varna, Ms Diana Agnosteva – Deputy Governor of Varna Province, Commodore Nikola Karanov – Deputy Commander of the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Commodore Dimitar Yordanov – Chief of Staff of JFC, Commodore Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov – Rector of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Captain (N) Svetoslav Dimitranov – Vice Rector for Administration and Logistics of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Captain (N) Ass. Prof. Dr Nikolay Velikov – Dean of Navigation Faculty, Captain (N) Ass. Prof. Ivan Ivanov – Dean of Engineering Faculty at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Master Mariner Valentin Enchv – Executive Director of Maritime Administration Executive Agency – Varna, Master Mariner Petar Tuhchiev – President of the Naval Academy Alumni Association.
The ceremony started with a greeting by the Rector of the Academy, Commodore Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov, who congratulated the 235 Bachelor and Master degree students. Prof. Mednikarov wished further success to the graduates, who on this day received their higher education certificates with the seal of the oldest tertiary technical institution in the country. The new alumni of the Naval Academy were also offered congratulations by Minister Desislava Yosifova, Master Mariner Dimitar Dimitrov and Master Mariner Valentin Enchev. The two Master Mariners, as alumni of the Naval Academy, made emotional speeches before the graduates, wishing them first of all to be healthy, wisely optimistic, successful in every endeavour, and never to forget their alma mater.
The valedictorian of the Class of 2016 of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy was the student Miglena Tsvetkova, graduating as Bachelor with the maximum possible GPA from the resident course in Water transport management. She extended her gratitude to the professors and teachers at the Naval Academy, who had selflessly imparted their knowledge, energy and experience over the years of training of her class, and to her classmates she wished a lot of good luck and good health, confidence and ambition.
