Navy Captain (ret.) Todor Yotov has been appointed as governor of Varna, after the incumbent, Stoyan Pasev, was dismissed by a decision of the provisional government.
Todor Yotov studied at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (1977 – 1982). He graduated with the qualification of Engineer – Navigator for the Navy. He also went to the Naval War College in USA, as well as NATO School Oberammergau. He served as Bulgarian naval attaché for Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. He finished his military service as the commanding officer of Naval Homeport Station Varna.
At the latest local elections in 2015, Todor Yotov ran with the citizens’ initiative Life for Varna. Up to this appointment he had been working at International and Scientific Activities section at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.
The government has appointed a total of 14 new governors, dismissing the incumbents. Apart from Varna, the provinces of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo,Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Silistra, Sofia city, Sofiyska, Shumen, Targovishte, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, and Yambol all got new governors.
