On 04 December 2017 there was an expanded rectorship meeting with the leadership of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy and Todor Kableshkov University of Transport. The main subject areas that were discussed were centered on education, qualification and research. In continuation of the successful cooperation policy, proposals were brought forth with regard to new possibilities for training in joint programmes. Approved was a Plan for expanding the cooperation in the area of the training for students pursuing master’s and bachelor’s degrees. With regard to enhancing the qualifications of the students, a unanimous decision was taken to work towards transport safety and security. Furthermore, the ways to realise projects in that area were commented upon.

As a strategy for increased cooperation of the two universities with institutions abroad, note was taken of the opportunity for partnership with universities from the People’s Republic of China. Contacts were established after manifested interest in joint projects in the sphere of science, research and education at the opening of the China Cultural Centre in Sofia on 23 November 2017 .
