22 April 2017 was the date of the cadet crew competition at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in the waters of the Lake of Varna. A total of six crews of six cadets each went head to head. The final winner in Saturday’s rowing race was 1st crew commanded by the fifth-year cadet Tomislav Dzhuninski. The cadets practised their teamwork skills and the formation of crews from the number of cadets. “The rules of the competition required the inclusion of a female cadet in each rowing crew,” announced Lieutenant Commander Valentin Vasilev, commander of the cadet training battalion at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy and organiser of the event.
