From 7 December 2016 Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy civilian students and military cadets will have the opportunity to be trained at a Communications Technology laboratory. This state-of-the-art high-tech facility will serve for conducting practical training in the discipline of Mobile communications.
In 2011 Mr Petar Petrov and Mr Lyubomir Nikolov, engineers from the directorate of Operation and Maintenance of the Network of Globul, for the first time allowed students Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy to become familiar with the technical equipment of the Control Centre of the operator, to observe his work in real time and to ask questions. The specialists’ support for the practical bias of the training has already become a tradition. They are happy to grant the students the opportunity to get a visual idea for the real-life application of what they have been learning, and that is what communications solutions are being used and how they support the operation of a mobile network.
The company Telenor – Bulgaria strives to shift its positioning in the eyes of the users from a pure mobile operator to a preferred partner in what is known as “mobility and digital solutions”. With regard to technology, the talk is about the possibilities to work with “new” technology – cloud storage, virtualisation, the internet of things, data transfer and information management. Telenor can be called “a trusted advisor in the digital era”.
The Communications Technology laboratory will undergo development in several stages. The first stage has already been successfully completed. Currently, the laboratory will be training the final-year students majoring in Ship electronics and Information and communications technology. The disciplines that will be studied are Mobile communications, Information management and Communications equipment. The future second stage involves the construction of a communication channel between the buildings of the Academy, which will be used for experimenting with the donated equipment and for conducting research on data transfer methods.
Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy has the ambition to become an authorised regional training centre of the leading company HUAWEI. This will be the third stage of the development of the initiative. Thus, with the available resources and by purchasing the required measuring instruments, training and certification can be provided to specialists both from Bulgaria and from neighbouring countries on the Balkans.
