On 25 May 2017 the Director of the г. Maritime Academy of the Republic of Estonia – Mr Roomet Leiger, paid an official visit to Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. He was accompanied by the Deputy Director – Ms Madli Kopti. The visitors were met by the Rector of the Academy – Flotilla Admiral Prof. Boyan Mednikarov, who delivered a presentation on the educational institution in his charge. During that briefing the guests asked a number of questions, with the main point of interest for them being the curricula for both the civilian students and the military cadets. After that Ms Kopti presented Estonia, Tallinn and the Maritime Academy. In the ensuing discussions both parties declared their readiness for cooperation in the areas of logistics and cyber security.

At the end of the meeting the two universities signed a memorandum of cooperation.
